What Is Audio Latency?

Audio latency is the delay between when your device sends an audio signal and when it actually comes out of your speakers or headphones. Even a tiny delay — as small as 20 milliseconds — can throw off musicians recording in real time, make video calls feel slightly off, or make gameplay less responsive. This test plays a simple rhythmic click and asks you to tap along with it. The difference between when the click was scheduled and when you tapped reveals how much delay your audio chain is adding.
